The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has wished the province’s matriculants all the best as they begin their trial exams this week.
More than 70,000 full-time candidates are registered to write the exams across the province.
Newly appointed Education MEC Jaco Londt said that the preliminary exams allow learners to identify areas that need additional focus before they sit for the real thing later this year.
Londt encouraged pupils to make use of the support resources available on the department’s website to help them prepare.
“The matric trial examinations officially begin this week and I would like to wish all the learners the very best. These examinations are an important milestone in a matriculant’s academic year, as they prepare for the final National Senior Certificate examinations.
“Stay focused, remain disciplined and have confidence in your ability to succeed. The Western Cape is behind you every step of the way. Good luck, work hard and make yourselves proud.”
