The deaths of two pupils from Johannesburg’s prestigious St Stithians College have left the close-knit school community reeling.
Police in Mpumalanga have launched an inquest after the bodies of former pupil Ethan Coetzee and Grade 11 learner Cameron Waldeck-Cooks were found at a lodge in Sabie earlier this week.
In heartfelt tributes, St Stithians honoured both pupils as outstanding sportspeople whose talent, dedication and character made a lasting impact on the school and its sporting community.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said the inquest is geared to establish the circumstances which led to the youngsters’ death.
“Police have opened an inquest docket for investigation after a male and female were found deceased at a lodge in Sabie on Monday, 03 August 2026. A postmortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death,” said Masondo
