Police in Limpopo are investigating the kidnapping and murder of a 26-year-old woman whose body was discovered in Ntwane Village on Sunday, August 2.
The woman is alleged to have been kidnapped on Saturday, August 1, at about 9pm, by two armed men.
According to police in Dennilton, under the Sekhukhune District, the armed men stormed the residence in Thabakhubedu Village.
The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said the woman was snatched while her boyfriend was away.
“The suspects allegedly forced open a bedroom door and kidnapped the female victim aged 26 while her boyfriend was away from home. Shortly after the incident, a single gunshot was reportedly heard a short distance from the house,” Ledwaba said.
A kidnapping case was immediately registered at the local police station. During the early hours of Sunday morning, police responded to a report of a body found near the Ntwane soccer ground.
“Upon arrival, police were led to the scene by the victim’s boyfriend, where they found the body of the woman with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. She was positively identified as the kidnapped victim and was certified dead at the scene,” Ledwaba said.
The motive for this crime is unknown at this stage.
