The Eastern Cape is hosting the seventh Export Symposium at the KuGompo ICC from 19-21 August.
The symposium will bring together business leaders, exporters, investors, policymakers and development partners from across South Africa, the African continent and international markets.
Hosted by the Eastern Cape Development Corporation, the event aims to showcase the province’s export capabilities while creating opportunities for trade, investment and business partnerships.
This year’s symposium will be held alongside the Continental Energy Infrastructure and Investment Forum, bringing together discussions on trade, investment, infrastructure and energy.
The event will focus on ways to expand market access, strengthen regional value chains and unlock new investment opportunities as global supply chains continue to change and the African Continental Free Trade Area creates new opportunities for trade on the continent.
The programme will include high-level keynote addresses, panel discussions, specialised workshops and business-to-business matchmaking sessions.
A 60-stand exhibition will also showcase export-ready businesses, products, services and investment opportunities.
The Eastern Cape Development Corporation says the exhibition will give businesses an opportunity to engage directly with buyers, investors, financiers and industry leaders looking for commercially viable partnerships.
The province has three commercial ports and two Special Economic Zones, strengthening its position as a gateway for trade, investment and industrial development.
Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane says the symposium is part of efforts to strengthen partnerships between government, industry and international markets.
“This year’s Symposium reflects our ambition to build stronger partnerships between government, industry and international markets, and to move from dialogue to delivery on the opportunities before us,” Mabuyane says.
Acting ECDC Chief Executive Officer Thobile Buthelezi says the integrated event is intended to connect policy with implementation and investment with opportunity.
The symposium is expected to attract delegates from across the SADC region and international markets, further positioning the Eastern Cape as a destination for trade, investment and export development.
