American Citizens in the Northern Cape

American Citizens in the Northern Cape – U.S. Embassy & Consulates in South Africa

An official website of the United States government

Worldwide Caution: The Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution.

American citizens in the Northern Cape, North West, and Free State can save the trip to Cape Town or Johannesburg and get their citizen services done closer to home!

Consular officers from the U.S. Consulate General will be in Kimberley on Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12 to accept U.S. passport applications, perform select citizenship services and provide notary services. An appointment is necessary. Please contact us at ACSCapeTown@state.gov to register. After registering, we will provide you additional details on timing and location.

Use our U.S. Passport Navigator to guide you through the passport application and payment process (via pay.gov). Fees for all services can be settled via credit card via the pay.gov website. Our team will be ready to assist you with the payment process using your phone.

For individuals who have been notified their new passports are ready for retrieval/DHL delivery

If you applied for a new passport in Cape Town and received a message from our ACS team that your new passport is ready for pick up or DHL delivery to your door, you can skip that process and pick it up yourself in Kimberley. Just let us know your preference by email at ACSCapeTown@state.gov so we can be ready to assist.

For American voters in the Northern Cape, North West, and Free State

Consular officers can assist you with absentee voting. For a voter assistance guide, primary dates, and more, visit the Federal Voting Assistance Program website.

Support your community

Join our Citizen Liaison Volunteer team and support U.S. citizens in your community. Citizen Liaison Volunteers (CLVs) are typically private U.S. citizen residents in a foreign country who volunteer to support American Citizens Services (ACS) units. Formerly known as wardens, CLVs communicate with and assist U.S. citizens abroad, especially in emergency situations. Together, we can make America stronger, safer, and more prosperous. To apply, chat with a consular official while they are in Kimberley or express your interest in writing to ACSCapeTown@state.gov. #PatrioticService #CitizenLiaisonVolunteer #StrongerSaferProsperous
