The Western Cape Department of Water and Sanitation is urging residents to continue using water sparingly even with an encouraging water storage outlook.
Several dams in the Gouritz and Olifants Doorn catchments have exceeded capacity, including Steenbras Upper Dam and Wemmershoek Dam near Paarl.

The City of Cape Town’s largest dam, Theewaterskloof, is now at 78%, up from around 63%.
The department’s Lebo Maseko said that dam levels will continue to be monitored throughout the season.
“We have seen a steady increase in dam levels across the Western Cape this week, with the Cape Town water supply system now above 83%.”
In Knysna, Akkerkloof Dam has increased from 41% to 48%, reflecting a steady improvement in local water reserves.
The Garden Route municipality declared a state of disaster in January when water reserves dropped to just 15%.
“This points to an improving water outlook for the province. We, therefore, encourage and call on residents to continue using water responsibly as we closely monitor dam levels throughout the season.”
