Western Cape govt denies doing business with Tony Leon’s PR firm

The Western Cape Government has denied doing business with Tony Leon’s PR firm, Resolve Communications.

The ANC in the province claims the company was used to promote what it calls the myth of good DA governance.

The ANC also likened Resolve Communications to state capture-linked British PR agency Bell Pottinger, allegations the DA-led government has rejected.

Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town said its never contracted Resolve Communications, but worked with the firm as a crisis communications partner during the Day Zero water crisis.

It says they were rather brought on by the city’s communication agency because they were crisis communication specialists.

At the same time, the City of Cape Town has responded to a Public Protector report that found the metro failed to provide basic services to residents in Langa and Khayelitsha.

The City’s MMC for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, said the findings are outdated.

“The Public Protectors Investigation was initiated about four years ago and in that time the city has already attended to most of the issues that this report has identified. We further confirm that basic services are indeed provided on schedule at the N2 Gateway development,” said Badroodien.
