WEEKEND WEATHER: Sunshine dominates Gauteng, Cape Town turns cloudier into Monday

Johannesburg and Pretoria will enjoy sunny, dry conditions this weekend, while Cape Town heads into an increasingly cloudy start to the new week, according to AccuWeather.

Johannesburg: Sunny days, icy mornings

Johannesburg is set for a bright but chilly weekend, with sunshine dominating all three days.

Saturday will reach a high of 18°C after a frosty morning low of 1°C, followed by 20°C on both Sunday and Monday, with overnight temperatures remaining close to 1°C and rising slightly to 3°C by Monday.

Conditions are expected to stay dry throughout the weekend, with no chance of rain. However, hazy conditions are forecast each day, with very unhealthy air quality expected. Winds will remain light, blowing from the west-northwest to north-northwest.

Pretoria: Nice afternoons under sunny skies

Pretoria is forecast to enjoy slightly warmer conditions than Johannesburg, with highs climbing from 19°C on Saturday to 21°C on both Sunday and Monday.

Overnight temperatures will remain cold, starting at 2°C on Saturday before rising to 4°C and then 5°C by Monday morning.

Like Johannesburg, Pretoria is expected to remain dry through the weekend, with hazy conditions and very unhealthy air quality forecast each day. Winds will stay light.

Cape Town: Sunshine fades as clouds return

Cape Town will begin the weekend with sunshine returning after a cloudy start on Saturday, when temperatures are expected to reach 17°C after a low of 9°C.

Cloud cover will increase on Sunday, with temperatures climbing slightly to 18°C after a 10°C start.

By Monday, cloudy conditions are expected to dominate, with a high of 18°C and a low of 11°C.

Only a slight chance of precipitation is forecast over the three days, while winds remain light to moderate from the north-northwest. The UV index is also expected to ease from moderate on Saturday to low on Sunday and Monday.
