WEATHER: Sunny, chilly weekend ahead for Gauteng and Cape Town

People in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town can look forward to a largely dry weekend, with sunny skies dominating inland while Cape Town remains partly cloudy, according to AccuWeather.

Cool daytime temperatures and cold early mornings are expected to continue through to Monday.

Johannesburg is forecast to reach 19°C on Saturday, 19°C on Sunday and 18°C on Monday, with overnight lows of 4°C, 5°C and 5°C respectively.

Saturday will be hazy, with very unhealthy air quality expected, before sunshine returns on Sunday. Monday is forecast to bring brilliant sunshine, although very unhealthy air quality is again expected.

Pretoria is set for slightly warmer conditions, with daytime highs of 21°C on Saturday, 21°C on Sunday and 20°C on Monday. Overnight temperatures will remain cold at 5°C, 7°C and 6°C.

Saturday is expected to be hazy with very unhealthy air quality, while Sunday and Monday will bring plenty of sunshine. Very unhealthy air quality is also forecast for Monday.

Cape Town will experience cooler conditions than Gauteng, with highs of 19°C on Saturday, 18°C on Sunday and 17°C on Monday.

The city is expected to remain mostly cloudy on Saturday before turning partly sunny on Sunday and Monday.

No meaningful rainfall is forecast for any of the three cities over the weekend or on Monday, while UV levels are expected to remain moderate.

Winds are also forecast to stay generally light across all three metros.
