Here’s the weather outlook for South Africa’s nine provinces.
The South African Weather Service has issued weather updates stating that disruptive rain, snow and winds are expected in some provinces.
SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
A. Orange Level 6 Warning: Disruptive rain resulting in flooding of bridges/roads/settlements and damage to property/infrastructure is expected in places along the coast and adjacent interior between East London and Port Edward.
B. Orange Level 5 Warning: Disruptive snow resulting in traffic disruptions, disruption to essential services and some communities temporarily cut-off is expected in places over the extreme north-eastern high-ground of the Eastern Cape.
C. Yellow Level 4 Warning: Disruptive rain resulting in flooding of bridges/roads/settlements and damage to property/infrastructure is expected in places long the coast and adjacent interior of KwaZulu-Natal, south of St. Lucia.
D. Yellow Level 2 Warning: Disruptive rain resulting in flooding of bridges/roads/settlements and damage to property/infrastructure is expected over the south- eastern parts of the Eastern Cape and the eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, except in the extreme north- east.
E. Yellow Level 2 Warning: Disruptive snow resulting in traffic disruptions, disruption to essential services and some communities temporarily cut-off is expected in places over the north-eastern high-ground of the Eastern Cape.
F. Yellow Level 1 warning: Damaging coastal wind and waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea for small vessels/ personal water craft and localised disruption to beachfront activities are expected between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas.

Very cold and wet conditions with light snowfall expected to set in from Tuesday (28-07-2026) evening in places over Eastern Cape, southern parts of KwaZuluNatal, southern Free State as well as along the Lesotho borders with the passage of the cut-off low weather system, clearing from the west by Thursday (30-07- 2026). Farmers are advised to take precautionary measures to mitigate negative impact under such adverse weather conditions.

Gauteng
Gauteng can expect fine and cool.

Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga, the Place of the Rising Sun, can expect partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and cool, but warm in the Lowveld.
Limpopo
In Limpopo, partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and cool to warm.
North West
North West, known as Bokone Bophirima in Setswana, can expect fine and cool.
Free State
In the Free State, fine and cold to cool, becoming partly cloudy in places.
Northern Cape
Morning fog along the coast, otherwise fine cool to cold but partly cloudy in the south-east with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme south- east where it will be cloudy. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly
Western Cape
Fine and warm over the extreme western parts, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to cold with isolated showers and rain. It will be cloudy in the east. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly, reaching near gale force along the south-west coast.
The expected UVB sunburn index is Low
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Very cold in places over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cold with widespread showers and rain, but scattered in the north-west. Light snow is expected in places in the north- eastern high ground. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south- easterly, becoming north-easterly west of Gqeberha.
The Eastern half: Cloudy and cold with widespread showers and thundershowers, but general showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior. It will be very cold with snow in the northern high ground. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south- easterly.
KwaZulu-Natal
Cloudy and cool to cold, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the south. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly, becoming fresh to strong south-easterly south of Richard’s Bay in the afternoon.
