Two men arrested after police seized 11 explosives in the Free State

Two men have been arrested after police found 11 cone-shaped explosives in a house in Meloding, Free State, during an intelligence operation.

The suspects, aged 37 and 47, were arrested on Tuesday after members of the Welcome anti-gang unit acted on information from Thabong’s crime intelligence that the men were allegedly carrying explosives and wanted to sell them.

According to police, the information led officers to a house in the Senzela area of Meloding.

“Upon arrival at the identified address, a search was conducted during which eleven cone-shaped explosive devices were found,” police said.

The Explosives Unit arrived on site to safely remove the explosives.

Police said the cone-shaped explosives had been seized and booked as evidence. The two men were arrested for violating the Explosives Act.

The suspects are expected to appear in Virginia court soon.
