Police in the Eastern Cape are investigating the death of five members of the same family at a homestead in Mfundisweni Administrative Area in Flagstaff in the OR Tambo District.
Police spokesperson, Nobuntu Gantana says the bodies of an adult man, his wife and their three children were discovered on Thursday morning after a community member alerted police.
Gantana says all five family members sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
” Police reports indicate that the deceased sustained fatal gunshot wounds to their bodies. A pistol was found at the scene next to the body of the adult male occupant. According to preliminary information, a friend of the family and a family member arrived at the house in the early morning hours and discovered the tragic scene. A domestic homicide followed by suicide is suspected , but the motive remains unconfirmed.”
