Over 400 Gauteng transport operators risk losing their operating licences if they fail to collect them

More than 400 public transport operators in Gauteng risk losing their operating licences if they fail to collect them by August 14th.

The Department of Roads and Transport said that the uncollected licences belong mainly to minibus taxi and scholar transport operators.

Spokesperson Lesiba Mpya said that the department has issued more than two thousand operating licences since November last year, as part of efforts to clear the backlog and improve compliance across the province.

“Failure to act within the stipulated period, may result in the cancellation of the issued operating licence, requiring operators to restart the process in accordance with applicable legislation.”
