Only two of Gauteng’s eleven municipalities obtain clean audits

For the second financial year running only two of Gauteng’s eleven municipalities obtained clean audits. 

These are Midvaal and the West Rand District Municipality the same two that also received clean audits last year. 

On Sunday, Finance MEC Nkululeko Dunga, released the consolidated audit report for all of the province’s municipalities for the 2024 / 2025 financial year. 

Dunga says there has been an overall regression in audit opinions for Gauteng’s municipalities. 

“Six of the eleven municipalities received unqualified audit opinions with findings, two received clean audits with no findings at all, and three received qualified audit opinions.”
