Lieutenant-General Sizakhele William Dyantyi has been appointed as the new Western Cape Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane announced the appointment at SAPS Provincial Headquarters in Cape Town on Wednesday morning.
The appointment follows the retirement of Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile at the end of June.
Major General Luyanda Damoyi had been serving as acting provincial commissioner since 1 July.
The appointment forms part of SAPS’ rollout of new provincial commissioners across four provinces this week as part of the organisation’s leadership renewal programme.
Appointments for North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga are expected over the coming days.
SAPS said the appointments formed part of its organisational renewal programme to strengthen leadership within the police service and reinforce its commitment to professional, ethical, accountable and effective policing under the SAPS Reset Agenda.
