The Gauteng Roads and Transport Department is urging minibus taxi and scholar transport operators to collect their operating licences before the 14th of August or risk having them cancelled.
The department says more than four hundred valid operating licences remain uncollected despite efforts to clear the backlog.
Spokesperson Lesiba Mpya has said so far over two thousand licences have been issued to compliant operators.

“Since November 2025, the department has prioritised the issuing of operating licences to qualifying public transport operators as part of the department’s commitment to reducing the backlog and ensuring compliant operators are able to operate legally,” said Mpya.
