A Western Cape father will be serving life imprisonment after he was sentenced in the Malmesbury Regional Court for sexually abusing his three biological daughters.
The 52-year-old man was convicted of the rape of his three daughters from the age of two until the age of 13.
The man cannot be named to protect the identity of the children who are still minors.
According to the Western Cape police spokesperson, Thembakazi Mpendukana, the father was arrested after he committed the sexual assaults on his daughters from the time they were two years old.
“The rape accused was arrested following the sexual assaults he committed on his daughters from the time they were two years up to the age of 13. The accused would take the children, one at a time, to their holiday home where he would force them to perform oral sex on him and then proceed to rape them,” Mpendukana said.
Police said this continued until the youngest daughter turned 16 years old, when the mother wanted to divorce the father because he did not want to work.
“It was at this moment that the three daughters disclosed the sexual abuse they’ve endured throughout the years to their mother,” Mpendukana said.
Police were informed, and charges were filed. The case was handed over for investigation to the Paarl Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.
On Tuesday, the father pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment for the rape of his daughters; he was further declared unfit to possess a firearm. The court further ordered that his details be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders.
“The investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Felicity Balie of Paarl FCS, worked tirelessly and with commitment in ensuring that the three victims get justice and that the perpetrator is put behind bars for the longest time,” Mpendukana said.
