Gauteng South Director of Public Prosecutions Andrew Chauke will return to his job after a report by the Nkabinde Enquiry exonerated him.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has found that there is no basis to conclude that Chauke is unfit to hold office.

An inquiry was set up after former National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head Shamila Batohi lodged an official complaint against Chauke, with Ramaphosa accusing him of making questionable prosecutorial decisions.
It was a complaint by Batohi that prompted Ramaphosa to establish an enquiry into Chauke’s fitness to hold office.
But as she struggled to field some tough questions from the chair, Bess Nkabinde, and the other panellists, Batohi seemed to have abandoned her bid, saying the main complainant was, in fact, the President.
The Nkabinde Enquiry has cleared Chauke of any wrongdoing, finding that there is no evidence that Chauke acted unlawfully regarding the prosecution of former KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Hawks head Johan Booysena and Cato Manor Unit.
Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said, “The President has thanked Adv Chauke for his cooperation throughout the enquiry process and expressed his trust that the finalisation of this matter will enable Adv Chauke to continue discharging his constitutional and statutory responsibilities with dedication and integrity in service of the National Prosecuting Authority and the nation.”
Ramaphosa has also thanked the panel for the manner in which they carried out their tasks.
