The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued multiple warnings for disruptive rain, which may lead to flooding in parts of the Northern Cape, Western Cape and the Eastern Cape.

Snow, strong winds and waves are also expected in some parts of the three provinces until Thursday, while fine and warm conditions are forecast for most of the country.

Impact-based warnings

Orange Level 8 warning: Disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of roads and bridges, danger to life due to fast-moving streams and rivers, and major road closures is expected over the eastern parts of the Garden Route District Municipality in the Western Cape, as well as the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality and Koukamma, Kouga and Sundays River Valley local municipalities in the Eastern Cape until Thursday.

Orange Level 5 warning: Disruptive rainfall leading to danger to life, flooding and displacements of settlements, as well as mudslides, is expected over the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality and the Makana, Ndlambe, Ngqushwa, Raymond Mhlaba Amahlathi and Great Kei local municipalities in the Eastern Cape until Thursday.

Yellow Level 4 warning: Disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of settlements, roads and bridges, as well as susceptible areas, is expected in places over the Swellendam Local Municipality, as well as the eastern parts of the Central Karoo and the western parts of the Garden Route District Municipality in the Western Cape until Thursday.

Yellow Level 4 warning: Wind and waves leading to difficulty in navigation at sea, as well as small vessels taking on water, are expected between Cape Point and Plettenberg Bay until Thursday.

Yellow Level 2 warning: Disruptive rainfall leading to localised flooding of roads and susceptible areas is expected over the extreme south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the Theewaterskloof and Langeberg local municipalities in the Western Cape, as well as the Dr Beyers Naude, Blue Crane Route, Enoch Mgijima, Intsika Yethu, Great Kei and Mnquma local municipalities in the Eastern Cape until Thursday.

Yellow Level 2 warning: Damaging waves leading to small vessels at risk of taking on water and capsizing, as well as difficulty in navigation, are expected between Plettenberg Bay and East London until Thursday.

Yellow Level 2 warning: Disruptive snow leading to icy roads and traffic disruptions is expected over the northern high-lying areas in the Eastern Cape on Thursday.
