WEATHER: Gauteng gets frost on Friday, Cape Town will be cool and sunny

South Africans can expect dry, stable winter weather across Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town on Friday, with sunshine dominating daytime conditions and virtually no chance of rain, according to AccuWeather.

The South Africa weather forecast shows Johannesburg remaining the coldest of the three major cities overnight, with temperatures expected to plunge to 1°C and frost possible in colder outlying areas.

Johannesburg weather forecast: Frost risk as temperatures drop to 1°C

Johannesburg weather conditions will start with some clouds before sunshine takes over during the day.

The city is expected to reach a high of 14°C.

Rain is highly unlikely; south-westerly winds of 13 km/h are expected, with gusts reaching 30 km/h.

Johannesburg residents should prepare for a sharp drop in temperature after sunset.

The overnight low is forecast at just 1°C, with conditions remaining mainly clear and chilly.

Frost could develop in the normally colder parts of the city and surrounding areas. The chance of rain remains negligible.

Pretoria weather forecast: Brilliant sunshine and mild winter temperatures

Pretoria is set for a warmer day, with brilliant sunshine and a daytime high of 17°C.

Dry weather will continue throughout the day, and residents can expect 13 km/h west-southwest winds, with gusts of 30 km/h.

Friday night will remain chilly but less severe than Johannesburg. Pretoria is expected to record a low of 3°C under partly cloudy skies. Rain is not expected, while cloud cover is forecast to increase to 54% overnight.

Cape Town weather forecast: Sunny skies, cool temperatures

The Cape Town weather forecast shows sunshine and a few clouds, with temperatures reaching 18°C.

Conditions will remain dry, with light northerly winds of 9 km/h expected during the day, with gusts reaching 19 km/h.

Overnight, temperatures are forecast to drop to 8°C.

Partly cloudy conditions are expected across the city, with easterly winds of 7 km/h.

Despite a 69% cloud cover, no rainfall is forecasted.
