Ratshivhadelo: Limpopo clubs are relegated by interference

Former Black Leopards striker Coxwell Ratshivhadelo has pinpointed the big problem behind Limpopo clubs not doing well in both the topflight as well as the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Black Leopards, Baroka FC, and Magesi FC have all been relegated from their respective leagues.

It is believed that club owner interference is widely cited as a major reason why Limpopo teams face constant relegation, according to Ratshivhadelo.

Ratshivhadelo says owners often dictate matchday tactics in Limpopo, which results in constant firing of coaches and destroys squad continuity.

“All the owners of Limpopo teams don’t respect the coaches and the players,” Ratshivhadelo tells KickOff.

“How could you hire a coach but you want to control who to play and who not to play. It can’t be correct that we don’t respect our employees just because you have monetary power.

“I don’t expect the owner of the team to be in the dressing room to give instructions to the players before the game and at half-time. They must also hire experienced team managers.

“I did experience that before but unfortunately, I can’t mention the club but it was before I joined Wits University FC. I’m talking about the interference of club owners, whereas they have hired the coaches to take control of the team.

“They must also respect black coaches.”

Limpopo now only have Polokwane City FC in the Betway Premiership; neighbours Sekhukhune United are based in the province of Gauteng and only play their matches in Limpopo.
