A 24-YEAR-OLD man from the Makhado area in Limpopo is in serious trouble
This after he was accused of sexually assaulting his 16-year-old girlfriend. The suspect is reportedly still at large.
Police in Tshilwavhusiku under Makhado Municipality are investigating a case of statutory rape after it was reported on Monday, 8 June.
Police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the incident came to light after the teenager’s mum noticed that her daughter wasn’t feeling well and took her to a local healthcare facility on 26 February.

“After a medical examination, it was allegedly confirmed that the girl is pregnant,” said Ledwaba.
“When questioned by her mother, the teenager allegedly identified her 24-year-old boyfriend as the man responsible. She also reportedly told her mother that their relationship started on 27 December.”
She was 15 years old when the relationship started.
The matter was later referred to the Department of Social Development. Following consultations with social service officials, an assault case was registered at the Tshilwavhusiku Police Station.
The suspect has not yet been arrested, and police say investigations are continuing.
