Limpopo teen needs help to represent SA in England | Review

LIMPOPO – The 14-year-old netball player Zwivhuya ‘Zuzu’ Ramuedzisi from Ha-Madodonga Village outside Louis Trichardt is appealing for financial assistance to help her travel to England after being selected to represent South Africa on an international netball tour.

Zwivhuya, a Gr 9 learner at Uitsig High School in Centurion and niece of former world 800m champion Mbulaheni Mulaudzi, described her selection as a great honour.

“It is an honour to have been selected to represent both my school and South Africa on an international tour. The event will take place in Manchester and London, England, from November 30-December 8, where I will compete against some of the best teams in the world,” she said.

Her passion for netball began in primary school and was nurtured from Gr 5 while attending Springvale Primary School in Centurion.

“This was the foundation of my skills and commitment to the sport,” she said.

Rising through the netball ranks

In 2024, while in Gr 7, she joined Thornbill Netball Club at Curro Thatchfield in Centurion, a move that proved to be a turning point in her sporting journey. At the end of the year, she received the best team player award.

When she joined Uitsig High School in 2025, she was appointed captain of the school’s u/14 team and later received the best sportswoman award. In the same year, Thornbill Netball Club honoured her with the player of the year award.

Awards and recognition

This year has been her most successful season yet. She earned selection to the Uitsig High School first team (u/19), becoming one of only two 14-year-old players in the squad.

At the Woerie B-Easter Sports Netball Tournament held at Hoërskool Centurion in April, she was named best senior defender among all participating schools. “At just 14 years old, this recognition was a great honour and a milestone in my journey,” she said.

England tour opportunity

Her performances at the tournament led to her selection for the England tour. Among her achievements are best attacker, most determined player and a leadership award in 2024, as well as best defender and player of the year in 2025 at Thornbill Netball Club.

She also received Uitsig High School’s best sportswoman award in 2025.

Appeal for community support

Zwivhuya said her ultimate dream is to represent South Africa’s national netball team, the Proteas. “To make my dream possible, I need to raise R70 000 to cover travel, accommodation, visa costs, tour kit and participation fees.

“My family and I are unable to meet the cost on our own, and we are appealing to the community for support,” she said.

Donations will be accepted until the end of October 2026 to allow sufficient time for travel arrangements to be finalised.
