JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng and the Western Cape remain the top destinations for both internal and international migrants.
That’s according to Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke.
The search for jobs remains the biggest factor behind semigration, accounting for roughly 28 percent of all moves.
Maluleke further notes that Gauteng experiences the largest inflow of migrants.
Approximately 1.4 million people moved into the province between 2021 and 2026.
The province also remains the preferred destination for international migrants entering the country.
The Western Cape received the second-highest inflow with over half a million arrivals.
