He told the commission that he received a tip-off about the consignment and acted on the information, together with other law enforcement officers.
However, Mashaba was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of the drugs with an estimated street value of more than R300 million.
Mashaba said Khan was very hostile to him at the scene of the major drug bust in Aeroton.
“Our success was hijacked from us by police officers who wanted to claim our success. The way they could claim success was to arrest us and that’s exactly what they did.”
He said Khan’s conduct was dodgy, as he arrested him for allegedly attempting to steal the massive consignment.
“At around 13h30, we were arrested by the Hawks team that came last at the crime scene. They arrested us and took charge of the scene.”
Chief Mashaba will continue with his testimony on Thursday morning.
