Activist Nkosikhona “Phakel’umthakati” Ndabandaba has called on South Africans to prepare to build a wall along the country’s borders, saying citizens should contribute materials including cement and bricks.
He also clarified that 30 June is not intended to be a mass protest day, but rather a deadline for people who are in the country illegally to leave.
Ndabandaba added that he expects to lead a march of as many as two million people should that deadline not be met.
“The 30th of June is just a deadline. It’s not an event. We are building up to that 30th of June, as we, as we do. It’s a buildup to sensitise our brothers and sisters from Africa, from the nearest countries. They must go back to their countries, fix their papers, come in the country, respect the laws, fix their attitude,” Ndabandaba said.
Meanwhile, the Border Management Authority (BMA) stated that 663 Ghanaian nationals left South Africa over the weekend, while a further 168 Mozambican nationals departed on Sunday.
