PHALABORWA – Frans du Toit High School’s u/14B rugby team has been crowned the 2026 Schools B Division champions in the Limpopo Division Three League.

The title was secured in their final league match on Saturday, June 6, when the Fransies edged past Louis Trichardt (LTT) 29–24 in Musina.

The victory capped an outstanding, unbeaten season in which the team dominated throughout the competition.

Strong performances throughout campaign

Their campaign began on May 9 with a hard-fought 24–19 win over Hoërskool Piet Potgieter (HPP). This was followed by a convincing 22–10 victory against LTT, before the team closed out the league with an emphatic 34–8 win over HPP in their second-last fixture.

Coaches praise players’ dedication

The school’s sports organiser and one of the rugby coaches, Sean Knoetze, praised the players for their commitment and effort.

“I would like to congratulate our u/14B team on winning the B Division of the Limpopo Division Three League,” he said.

“As one of the coaches, I thank the players for their dedication and hard work, as well as my fellow coaches, coach Nick and coach Chad, for their commitment and teamwork throughout the season.”

Historic achievement for the school

Knoetze said that the team will not advance to the inter-provincial stage, as only A teams qualify. However, he emphasised that the achievement remains significant.

“This is a historic moment for Frans du Toit, as it is the first time the school has won a B league title. The boys should be incredibly proud. Well done, you have made the school, your coaches and your supporters extremely proud.”
