Emergency services were activated around 5.20am after four vehicles were involved in the accident. The collision involved a light motor vehicle, a trailer carrying a light motor vehicle, a minibus and a heavy motor vehicle.

“Four patients suffered serious injuries, while two others sustained moderate injuries. All injured patients were stabilized on site by ambulance personnel and transported to Tokollo Hospital in Heilbron and Pelonomi Trauma Center in Bloemfontein,” Towa said.

He said the Accident Investigation Unit was activated and carried out further investigations at the scene.
Motorists traveling on the R57 between Petrus Steyn and Heilbron are urged to reduce their speed, remain vigilant and follow all instructions from emergency services and law enforcement personnel.
“Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones. We extend our deepest condolences at this difficult time,” Towa said.
The latest accident adds to the growing number of fatalities on Free State roads. It follows another fatal accident reported on the N3 between Vrede and Warden on Friday, where a truck and a light motor vehicle collided, killing three people.
Meanwhile, Mangaung Metro has expressed its condolences following the tragic death of a child in a water truck incident in Ward 33, Botshabelo.
Authorities have once again urged motorists to adapt their driving behavior to weather conditions, maintain safe following distances and avoid unnecessary risks on the roads during the winter season.
