30 June protests: Business as usual across Joburg

On the way there through parts of the Johannesburg CBD, Brixton, Crosby and Mayfair, it was very much business as usual.

Taxis and buses were ferrying commuters to work, shops were opening and there was no immediate sign of any disruption.

Police are preparing for a high-level operational briefing where Gauteng Police Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni will be joined by acting National Police Commissioner Puleng Dimpane and Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi to assess law enforcement deployments across the province.

Motorists have been warned to expect major traffic disruptions after 8am as officers begin escorting and monitoring planned protest actions across parts of the province.
