South Africans can expect a largely calm and dry Thursday as stable weather conditions dominate much of the country. Most provinces will enjoy cool to warm temperatures with clear to partly cloudy skies, while only a few coastal regions in the south are likely to see isolated rainfall.
The Western Cape will be the main focus for wet weather. Cloudy to partly cloudy conditions are expected to develop during the day, with isolated showers and rain reaching the south-western parts from the afternoon.
Rain chances here are around 30%, especially near Cape Town and surrounding coastal areas. Cool conditions will persist across the province, accompanied by fresh to strong winds along the south-west coast.
Along parts of the Eastern Cape coastline, light rain is also expected later in the day and into the evening. Rain chances remain low at around 30%, mainly affecting the eastern coastal belt and adjacent interior south of the escarpment.
The remainder of the province will stay partly cloudy and cool, with morning fog patches over the interior.
KwaZulu-Natal will see a fine to partly cloudy day with warm conditions over most areas, although the south-western interior will remain cooler. No significant rainfall is expected across the province despite increasing cloud cover later in the day.
The central and northern interior, including Gauteng, the Free State, North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, will remain dry with cool morning conditions followed by mild to warm afternoon temperatures.
Fog patches are likely along the escarpment regions of Mpumalanga and Limpopo early in the morning before clearing to fine weather.
The Northern Cape will also stay dry and cool to warm, although coastal fog and low cloud are expected to spread over the western coastline and adjacent interior by evening.
