Rand Water says Gauteng maintenance programme is progressing well

Rand Water has assured residents its planned maintenance programme in parts of Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni is progressing well.

The utility said work at the Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes pump systems has been completed and that both are now pumping at full capacity.

The utility said it has now resumed the restoration process, meaning that systems will start improving over the next three to five days.

It said the full supply will vary from lower-lying areas, with direct feeds expected to recover first, while higher-lying areas recovering last.

Rand Water said necessary interventions are in place, with tankers supplying water to affected areas.

Residents are being urged to continue using water sparingly.

The repair work, which started on Friday, is expected to last until Tuesday.
