Orlando Pirates FC have been crowned the Betway Premiership Champions at the Mbombela Stadium today, May 23, after beating Orbit College FC 2-0.

Goals came from Thalente Mbatha in the closing stages of the first half in extra time and an own goal by Orbit College FC’s Ndumiso Ngiba sealed the score.

The Buccaneers have ended a 14-year league title drought, with their last league championship victory having come in the 2011/12 season.

The Buccaneers secured the title on the final day of the season. This win halted Mamelodi Sundowns’ streak of eight consecutive league championships and capped off a spectacular campaign for the Soweto side.
