SEDIBENG.- Two local girls, Blessing Mofokeng and Khanyisile Mtetwa, showcased their talent at the Gauteng Junior Tennis Championships held at Ellis Park Tennis Court recently.
They are both from the Sedibeng Tennis Club.

They were crowned champions in the U12 Junior Girls Doubles. This was before Mtetwa finished third in the U12 girls’ singles in the same tournament.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Jonny Makgalemele, who is the Sedibeng Tennis Development Club coach, expressed immense pride in the two young tennis stars.
He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the two were born for the tennis courts, and it came as no surprise when they were crowned champions in the doubles. Makgalemele is passionate about this sport, especially the development of tennis in this region.
However, he revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that their biggest challenge in this region is the lack of tennis facilities.

For example, Makgalemele said due to the lack of facilities, they have had to move to the Flavius Mareka Sports Ground in Sasolburg, but this comes with travelling costs.
“I’m happy for these two talented girls, and they made all of us proud. They showed others that anything is possible regardless of our circumstances. The aim is to develop tennis superstars who will represent this region and the country at international competitions. This is our mandate as the Sedibeng Tennis Development Club,” he concluded.
