This was announced by Economic Development MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa at a press briefing on Monday.
Mbele’s employment contract has been terminated with immediate effect in the wake of a forensic investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, the gambling board’s chief financial officer, Oscar Maripane, was also implicated in the report, and he has been suspended with immediate effect pending the finalisation of an internal disciplinary process.
