Free State’s kickboxing team performed exceptionally well at the SA National Kickboxing Championship in Oudtshoorn.
The team, all members of the Lengau Martial Arts Academy led by Sensei Brendan David Davis, put in an exceptional performance at the April 25 to 28 event and showed determination on the national stage. The ten fighters secured 31 medals, 14 gold, ten silver and seven bronze, which was a powerful performance for them at the SAKA National Championships.
Caylin Majiedt led with six gold medals and one bronze, while Angelique Johnson followed with four gold and three bronze medals. Lonwabi Machi brought home two golds, two silvers and one bronze. Daniell Cooper contributed two silver medals, Miané van der Westhuizen secured two gold and one silver and Drake Enslin added two bronze medals. Leeanné Terblanche claimed three silver medals, Jamie Fourie added one silver, while Juan Breedt contributed one silver, and Stefan van der Westhuizen gained valuable experience on the national stage.
The competition showcased the discipline, resilience and unity of the academy and every performance contributed to the team’s success.
