A junior police officer in the Eastern Cape has been arrested after allegedly shooting at her boss during an office dispute at the Majola Police Station.
The incident happened at the police station situated outside Port St Johns.
The officer has been charged with four counts of attempted murder, theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The police constable allegedly stabbed two men in separate altercations over the weekend. She also allegedly stole two cars.
According to police reports, she crashed one of the vehicles and rolled the other into a water-filled ditch.
The two stabbing victims reported the matter to the local police station on Monday.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Nobuntu Gantana said the junior officer then opened fire at the complainants and the station commander.
“During the meeting, the constable forced open a colleague’s safe, took her firearm and opened fire on management and the complainants. The acting station commander was shot below the left arm and is in stable condition,” said Gantana.
This led to a shootout with other police officers.
The officer allegedly attempted to escape into nearby bushes before being arrested.
She is expected to appear in the Port St Johns Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
