Mulilo closes 337 MW Middlepunt solar in Free State

Mulilo, South African renewable energy developer,has reached financial close for the 337 MW (DC) Middlepunt Solar PV project near Welcome in the Free State Province of South Africa. The project has a contracted export capacity of 240 MW (AC) and is the first Bid Window 7 project under REIPPPP to be concluded. Once operational, Middlepunt is expected to generate approximately 770 GWh annually. The project will be connected to the Everest main transmission substation for grid integration. Electricity costs ZAR458/MWh under a 20-year PPA with the National Transmission Company of South Africa. The project is expected to power approximately 325,000 households and avoid 813,000 tons of COâ‚‚ annually. Mulilo aims to deliver 1 GW of new generation capacity annually through solar energy, wind energy and storage.
