Newly elected Democratic Alliance (DA) Federal Chairperson Solly Msimanga said he would continue serving as the party’s Gauteng leader after his election to the top position in the organisation.
The party held its federal congress at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand this weekend, where its new leadership was elected.
Msimanga emerged as a big winner at the congress, securing one of the most influential positions in the party.
Msimanga has taken over as the DA’s Federal Chairperson, succeeding Ivan Meyer, a senior and prominent leader in the party.

He said while his new role is demanding, he will remain the party’s Gauteng leader at least until the next provincial congress.
“Gauteng has taken a decision that I must remain in my seat. Whether congress is going to be called now or after the elections, that is something that my PEC [provincial executive committee] will have to decide.”
