The Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism has confirmed that the MEC Nonkqubela Pieters, was involved in a vehicle accident on the N2 between East London and Mdantsane on Thursday afternoon.
“The office can confirm that the MEC sustained no injuries and is in good health,” said spokesperson Mandisa Nohashe.
The MEC underwent a precautionary medical assessment following the accident and was reported to be in high spirits.
Authorities confirmed that the incident is under routine review, but no further injuries or damages have been reported.
