Easter babies: Free State is seeing a notable drop in the number of teenage mothers

The Free State has recorded 35 Easter babies since midnight, with a notable drop in the number of teenage mothers.

The provincial health department said an 18-year-old gave birth at Nketoana Hospital.

Of the newborns, 20 are boys and 15 are girls.

Health member Monyatso Mahlatsi said the decline in teen pregnancies reflects the impact of sustained public outreach involving health teams, educators and community leaders.
