Life Rosepark Hospital reported on (30/03) in Bloemfontein the promising start of their alliance with Universitas Academic Hospital with increasing availability of regenerative aortic care with minimal access for patients in the Free State’s public health sector.
This Free State Advanced Aortic Center opened in January with its first Vascular Hybrid Theater Complex and is already improving access to expert treatments previously unavailable in the district.
Two state patients from Universitas University Hospital with complicated aortic aneurysms have undergone successful minimal access surgeries in the hybrid vascular theater with excellent results since its launch.
Recently, the Center helped move an emergency patient with Kimberly’s broken aorta. The patient required emergency advanced endovascular reconstruction. This was carried out effectively and restored thoroughly.
Dr. Sam Letsoara and Dr Wikus Mulder from Universitas University Hospital performed the operations under the supervision of Prof Asha Malan, a vascular surgeon who proudly praised the team and reported the results as a breakthrough for both public and private collaboration and advanced vascular care in the Free State.
