JOHANNESBURG – Government has begun rolling out foot-and-mouth disease vaccinations in Gauteng.
Efforts are intensifying to contain the spread of the highly contagious livestock illness.
Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen and Agriculture MEC Vuyiswa Ramokgopa are meeting farmers and stakeholders across the province.
Farmers say the outbreak has already put pressure on livestock production and their businesses.
Steenhuisen will visit Suikerbos Nature Reserve before heading to Mmagagula Heights in Katlehong to speak to communal herders.
