Actress Luyanda Zwane swops the spotlight for the Limpopo bushveld

South Africa continues to be a premier safari destination, and actress Luyanda Zwane has recently caught the safari bug.

The “Sibongile & The Dlaminis” star took to social media to share her excitement about her trip, offering fans a glimpse into her unforgettable safari adventure.

Currently visiting Hoedspruit, Limpopo, which is renowned as the safari capital of the Greater Kruger area near the iconic Kruger National Park, Zwane expressed her awe at the wildlife she encountered.

“It was my first time on a safari drive. It was my first time seeing lions with my own eyes. It was my first time seeing rhinos, elephants, and giraffes,” she shared, reflecting on the experience.

“The rooms that I’m occupying and the places that I get to go to are places that young Lu dreamt of going to. Your gift will bring you before kings.

“Your God-given talents and influence will take you to places that seem far-fetched. I’m taking it all in, and I’m grateful,” Zwane further elaborated on her journey.

During her safari drive, the 22-year-old actress was particularly mesmerised by a pride of lions with young cubs.

Born and raised in Durban, Zwane is steadily building her reputation in the entertainment industry, having appeared in various productions, including the e.tv seriesDurban Gen”, the BET Africa telenovela “Redemption”, the Showmax series “Outlaws”, the Netflix series “Miseducation” and the Mzansi Magic drama series “Shaka Ilembe”.

However, Zwane has also opened up about the challenges she faces in the entertainment industry.

In a recent Instagram story, she revealed her experiences with bullying and intimidation.

“I was once asked by a female commissioning editor if I wanted to be an activist or an actor, simply because I was fighting for my rights as an actor on set.

“She further threatened that I’d never work again and would be cancelled in the industry if I continued to fight for myself… and she speaks about women’s empowerment every day on social media,” she recounted.

Zwane emphasised the struggles many young women face in the industry, often being silenced with, “you’ll never work again”.

“Well, let me speak for myself! I’ve been cornered and bullied by older women who are in ‘power’, and they expect me to shake and shrink myself. Where I come from, you face Goliath, you don’t shiver and shake in fear,” asserted the young actress.
