14 Roodepoort learners set to represent at Gauteng Champs | Roodepoort Record

Hoërskool Roodepoort is celebrating an exceptional athletics season, with 14 learners set to represent the school at the Gauteng Championships this weekend.

The highly anticipated event is set to unfold at Germiston Stadium, where top-performing athletes from across Gauteng will converge to compete for a coveted spot at the provincial level.

According to the athletics co-ordinator at the school, Levarno Rankoe, they started the season with only 20 athletes representing the school in several cluster meetings, and only 18 qualified for the D12 Champs.

He added that over the past years, they’ve managed to send more athletes to the Gauteng Champs, but this year saw a slight dip in learner participation. Despite this, he remains incredibly proud of their progress and achievements.

The Roodepoort team will showcase their skills in various track and field events, including the 100m dash, long jump, high jump, triple jump, and throws.

Rankoe wishes the 14 athletes all the best as they continue to make the school proud.
