WEATHER: Sunny Cape Town on Friday, warm in Gauteng with late storm risk

Friday brings bright, warm conditions across major centres, with some areas facing a risk of thunderstorms later, according to AccuWeather.

Cape Town will see a pleasant day with plenty of sunshine and a high of 24°C.

Southerly winds will blow at 17 km/h, gusting to 39 km/h.

By night, it’ll cool to 15°C under mainly clear skies.

Johannesburg reaches a high of 27°C with partly sunny skies.

There is a 25% chance of precipitation and a 6% chance of thunderstorms during the day.

Winds will be north-westerly at 9 km/h, gusting to 26 km/h, with cloud cover at 37%.

Overnight, Johannesburg drops to 16°C.

It will be partly cloudy with a thunderstorm possible late. The chance of precipitation rises to 55%, with a 21% chance of thunderstorms and around 0.5 mm of rain expected over one hour. Cloud cover increases to 66%.

Pretoria climbs to 30°C under partly sunny conditions.

There is a 25% chance of precipitation and a 6% chance of thunderstorms. Winds will be north-westerly at 9 km/h, gusting to 26 km/h, with cloud cover at 37%.

At night, Pretoria cools to 17°C with increasing cloudiness and a possible late thunderstorm in parts of the area. The chance of precipitation is 40%, with 0.1 mm of rain forecast over half an hour and cloud cover at 53%.
