Sasol 1 and Sasol 2 took to the Sasol Recreational Club cricket pitch in Secunda in the Mpumalanga Premier League 50 overs on February 8.
Sasol 2 won the toss and elected to bat first. Sasol 2 were bowled out for 104 with Werner Schimper scoring 59 runs. JP van Zyl was Sasol 1’s best bowler, taking five wickets for 11.
In reply, Sasol 1 chased down the score in the 18th over.
Pieter Vrolijk with 38 runs not out and Luan Swart with 21runs not out, took Sasol 1 over the line for a seven-wicket victory.
In other results, the Sasol women’s team went down to Next Gen from Middelburg in a match played at HTS Middelburg.
These results were not available at the time of print. Sasol also had four players representing the club at the Cricket South Africa Inland Rural week.
The Mpumalanga Rural team performed exceptionally well, losing in the final against the Gauteng Lions. Mpumalanga was coached by Nicus Boshoff, the head coach of Secunda Cricket Club (SCC).
