New Pool Rescue Training Series Set to Empower the Next Generation of Lifesavers

A new six-part video training resource by Lifesaving Western Cape is designed to break down complex skills, boost confidence and raise standards from grassroots to high performance.

Cape Town, South Africa (13 February 2026) – Lifesaving in the Western Cape has taken another exciting step forward with the launch of a brand-new Pool Rescue video training resource through the Rescue Sport Series. This is a move designed to make the sport more accessible, more understandable, and more empowering for the next generation of lifesavers.

The Beginner’s Guide to Pool Rescue Video Training Series is a six-part educational resource aimed at beginner and developing athletes. It’s now live on the Rescue Sport Series website! The series simplifies key skills, strengthens technical understanding, and helps build confidence where it matters most, under pressure.

Christina Mallion mentioned that at the heart of it all is development.

“This series matters because Rescue Sport is at the heart of developing athletes, coaches, and the next generation of lifesavers. Creating it was a no-brainer it aligns perfectly with our mission to grow the sport, elevate standards, and make lifesaving accessible to more people. This is about shaping the future, not just capturing it.”

On the other hand, Michelle Lamprecht says one of the biggest challenges for newcomers to Pool Rescue has always been its technical complexity. The new series tackles that head-on.

“Pool lifesaving can sometimes be overwhelming for newbies with lots of technical skills involved. This training series breaks down each component and makes those skills look easy and achievable.”

That sense of clarity is essential.

The project was a collaborative effort, bringing together experienced coaches and athletes Michelle Lamprecht, Kendra Du Toit, Nikki Mocke, Lauren Allott, and Christina Mallion. By combining technical expertise, coaching insight, and competitive experience, they created a practical, accessible resource that clubs and athletes can immediately put to use.

Designed as a shared resource for clubs, coaches, athletes, and associations, the series supports consistent education and skill development across the Western Cape and beyond.
