LIMPOPO – Unbeaten Mpheni Defenders continued their impressive run in the Safa Limpopo League after securing a 2–1 victory over Musina United at a packed Mpheni Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
The win saw Defenders extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches, with eight victories and one draw so far this season.
From the opening stages, Defenders looked determined to collect maximum points, outplaying Musina United in most departments.
The hosts opened the scoring in the ninth minute when all-rounder Haletedzi Matumba found the back of the net after a well-timed pass from Meshack Maphangule.

Musina United nearly conceded again in the 24th minute when Ndazemba Banda held onto the ball too long inside his own penalty area before losing possession, but Defenders failed to capitalise on the opportunity.
United gradually gained momentum and were rewarded in the 34th minute when Thendo Masindi equalised, calmly finishing after receiving a well-weighted pass from Edson Nkuna.
The teams went into the break level at 1-1.
Defenders made a tactical substitution early in the second half, introducing Gift Nemutandani in place of Maphangule.
Musina United responded in the 67th minute by replacing Gift Seshwene with Thembi Nevhulamba.
The decisive moment came later in the second half when Kagiso Nanane sealed the victory for Defenders with a well-placed header, sending the home supporters into celebration.
The result keeps Mpheni Defenders firmly on course in the league as they continue their unbeaten campaign.
