Mandela Warriors stage U14 tournament in Shatale | Mpumalanga News

Mandela Warriors FC hosted a top three Valentine’s Day U14 tournament at Shatale Stadium on Saturday, February 14. The tournament kicked off with Mandela Warriors locking horns against their rivals, Black Pirates, who are based at Zone Three, Magraskop.

They went to the interval goalless. It was the hosts who opened their scoring account shortly after halftime. Fifteen minutes later, Warriors doubled their lead.

The visitors pulled all stops to score a goal, however, the hosts remained resolute in their defence. The Warriors scored their third and fourth goals in the dying minutes of the game to win 4-0.

The second game saw Black Pirates playing against Deco United, as only three teams participated. The game produced sparks, as Black Pirates scored two goals in the first half and the game went to the interval 2-0.

In the second half, Black Pirates scored their third goal and started showboating to entertain their few supporters. The game ended 3-0 in their favour.

Progress Mashego, the league secretary, said the final was scheduled to be contested by Mandela Warriors FC and Black Pirates.

However, after suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of the young Warriors in the first match, Black Pirates refused to play the final, claiming that their players were tired.
