POLOKWANE – The MEC for Sport, Jerry Maseko, officially launched the 2025 Limpopo Sport Awards at Silver Exclusive Lodge last Saturday, aimed at recognising excellence in sport and recreation across the province.
Maseko said the awards celebrate outstanding achievements by athletes, coaches, sports administrators and other stakeholders who contribute to the growth and development of sport in Limpopo. “Through these awards, we honour the unsung heroes and champions of sport in Limpopo, whose passion and dedication inspire us all to strive for greatness,” he said.
Capricorn Mayor Mamedupi Teffo commended Maseko for his commitment to sustainable growth in provincial sport.
“Your dedication to uplifting our community through sport is truly inspiring. Keep driving positive change,” she said.
The awards feature multiple categories, including sports administrator, recreation body, sports volunteer, youth/junior sports star and team, sports visual journalist, sports media journalist, technical official, provincial federation, team, coach, sportswoman and sportsman (including persons with disabilities), and sports star of the year.
Maseko encouraged the public to celebrate and support athletes and contributors across all levels of sport in Limpopo, saying that the awards highlight the dedication, talent, and perseverance of both emerging and established sports figures in the province.
